The children have returned to school, summer activities are winding down. Fall meetings are starting to spring up. The September meeting of the Council of Community Organizations (COCO) will take place from 7-9 p.m. at the Lakeside Community Centre, 1492 St. Margaret’s Bay Road, Lakeside on Thursday September 24..The host group for this meeting will be the Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust.
Many of our community groups did not have Board meetings over the summer .Most were busy with ongoing projects however. Over the summer many of us were involved in the various activities of the Hike the Greenbelt project, upgrades to area trails including the Old St. Margaret’s Bay road, The Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail and the rail beds looked after by the two Rails to Trails groups, Beechville Lakeside Timberlea Rails to Trails and the St. Margaret’s Bay Rails to Trails, looking at how we can assist NS Nature Trust in the fund raising project to purchase land for the Rogues Roost Wilderness area and many other initiatives.
Anyone can attend a COCO meeting. Our HRM Councillors and MLA’s often attend to hear the concerns of their constituents, gather information and do some problem solving through discussion. If you are new to our community of communities you will quickly learn a lot of information at a COCO Meeting. We have provided these Information sharing forums five (5) times a year to our communities since March 2002.
Please join us to hear about environmental and planning issues ongoing in the communities around the Highways 103 and 333 loop.
Just say you heard it at a COCO Meeting!! See you on September 24. All are Welcome!!!
