{"id":868,"date":"2017-06-19T12:37:38","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T12:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/?p=868"},"modified":"2017-07-15T17:19:19","modified_gmt":"2017-07-15T17:19:19","slug":"environmental-stewardship-grants-awarded-40k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/?p=868","title":{"rendered":"Environmental Stewardship Grants Awarded $40K"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Six Funded Projects Will Improve Trails and Wilderness Education<\/h2>\n<p>Six environmental stewardship projects are moving forward this year thanks to $40,000 of grant money generated by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baytreasurechest.ca\/\">Bay Treasure Chest<\/a> and awarded to volunteer community groups through the Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust\u2019s Environmental Stewardship Grants Program.<\/p>\n<p>Grants were awarded to the following groups and projects:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smatva.ca\/\"><strong>St. Margaret\u2019s Bay Safety-Minded ATV Association:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>$5,000 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Nine Mile River Bridge installation \u2013 when completed the bridge will allow safe passage across the Nine Mile River to all trail users of the Old Coach Road.<\/p>\n<p>$3,400 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Signage Project \u2013 new signage across 22 km of managed trail passing through the Wilderness Protected Area to enhance safety and way-finding for users of the Old Halifax Road and the Old Coach Road.<\/p>\n<p>$8,000 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Trail Improvement \u2013 create new trail bed suitable for hikers and cyclists to connect the St. Margaret\u2019s Bay Rails to Trails to the parking and picnic area of Lewis Lake Provincial Park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wrweo.ca\/wp\/\"><strong>Bluff Trail<\/strong> <strong>Stewardship<\/strong> <strong>Program<\/strong> and <strong>Woodens River Watershed Environmental Organization:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>$10,000\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Volunteer Stewardship Training \u2013 education of 50 volunteers who will become trail stewards of the Bluff Trail hiking area and act as ambassadors when interacting with trail users.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/gpiatlantic.org\/youth\/about.htm\">GPI Atlantic Youth<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$5.600\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wilderness Red Cross Training \u2013 education of up to 24 youth as wilderness leadership facilitators.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blttrails.ca\/\">B.L.T.
