{"id":1169,"date":"2018-05-03T12:59:35","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T12:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/?p=1169"},"modified":"2018-05-03T14:09:09","modified_gmt":"2018-05-03T14:09:09","slug":"trust-grant-supports-bluff-trail-stewardship-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/?p=1169","title":{"rendered":"Trust Grant Supports Bluff Trail Stewardship Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Volunteers Preserving the Bluff Trail<\/h2>\n<p>With a $10,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/?p=1102\">Environmental Stewardship Grant<\/a> awarded this year by the Trust, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartofthebay.ca\/\">St. Margaret&#8217;s Bay Stewardship Association<\/a> is able to continue running its monthly <a href=\"https:\/\/wrweo.ca\/wp\/the-bluff-trail\/\">Bluff Trail<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/wrweo.ca\/wp\/the-bluff-trail\/the-bluff-trail-stewardship-program\/\">Stewardship Program<\/a>, which teaches volunteers key aspects of protecting the popular Bluff Trail Wilderness Area.\u00a0 This vast area has 30 km of trail networks and natural wilderness environment that is increasingly exposed, by its popularity, to negative human impacts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1173\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1173\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1173\" src=\"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-960x640.jpg 960w, https:\/\/fivebridgestrust.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_1412-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mike Lancaster (on the car) welcomes the Sunday, April 22 Earth Day volunteers to the Stewardship Training Day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Volunteer training sessions are held monthly on weekend mornings.\u00a0 Volunteers meet at the parking lot area off St. Margaret&#8217;s Bay Road in Timberlea for a round up conversation with Bluff Trail training coordinator Mike Lancaster, before they head out on the trails for a six-hour hike day; full of rest stops, and conversation about the natural area and how to preserve it from human impacts.<\/p>\n<p>Mike also teaches volunteers about the goals of the Bluff Trail Stewardship Program which are to decrease the impact of human harms on the trail;
